Sometimes, pictures tell the story better than anything. Here is a photo story of our journey:

At the first Community Meeting, on January 19, Milenko Matanovic, Executive Director of the Pomegranate Center, laid out the ground rules and let us know what to expect from the process.

78 ideas for the Sunset/Boeing Creek Open Space. Everyone in the room was allowed and encouraged to voice their top idea. The group also generated a list of community values to guide the design of the park.

Dave Buchan, Capital Project Manager from the City of Shoreline, lent his expertise to the process, and ensured that the ideas would be workable.

Over 120 residents attended the first Community Meeting. We'd call that a success!!

Approximately 80 people participated in the second Community Meeting on February 23. Working in small groups, the participants used the ideas and community values generated at the first community meeting to draw their ideas of how the two sites could look. Each group's map was then posted on the wall for everyone to see.

Small group work

More small group work

Getting the kids involved...

All small group work was presented to the whole room. There were so many ways to design a little space!

The all-day Design meeting was more small group work, each group getting a section of the site to work on.

Each section had to match up with the designs of the groups that worked on the next section...

Sketches were done on overlays, with detailed explanations for the features that were proposed by the group.

The designs were put up next to each other to make one continuous design plan

Each section was explained by a member of the small group who did the work.

The Design Meeting drew more than 50 people, some of whom stayed all day, and some who came for a part of it.
